What We Choose to Make (and Why)
There’s a certain kind of comfort that comes from pieces made well. The kind you can feel in the weight of a quilt, the weave of a cushion, or the texture of a fabric that’s been touched by hand.
At Altrove, we’ve always believed that quality isn’t just about how something looks. It’s about how it’s made, what it’s made from, and how it holds up over time.
Made by Hand
Most of our cushions are handwoven and hand-finished by artisans who know exactly how to bring out the best in every thread. That craftsmanship shows in the softness, the weight, and the imperfect details that give each piece character.
A lot of our textiles are hand block printed using age-old techniques by artisans all over the country. No two prints are ever exactly alike and that’s the beauty of it.
Materials Matter
We use cottons, linens, natural fibres- materials that feel good against the skin and settle into everyday spaces. It’s always about how something feels in a room, not just how it looks.
Because Good Things Should Last
We’re not here to follow fast trends. We don’t mass produce. Our pieces take time because we make them in small batches, often by hand, in collaboration with skilled artisans. That means fewer leftovers, less waste, and a deeper connection to what we put out into the world. Our focus has always been on designing and producing things that stand the test of time- visually and physically.
A Few Conscious Choices Along the Way
While quality leads the way, we’re also mindful of how and where we produce. From collaborating with artisan clusters across India to using recycled paper in our paper mâché décor, we play our part in making sure we make as many sustainable choices as we can.
Our love for old things runs deep. From brass to carved wood, we often bring in antique or aged pieces that already hold stories. Giving them a new context in modern homes is our way of extending their life and offering something one-of-a-kind while we’re at it.
We won’t call ourselves fully sustainable. But we do care deeply about what we make and how we make it. Most of what we create is natural by default. Occasionally, a design calls for a synthetic touch but it’s always a choice, never an afterthought.
